Sculpture designed by Calatrava, "Mother and Child". Brass.
Lower half expresses "Mother", lying herself back, and upper half expresses "Child" or baby, thrown in the air.

The typology of this abstract sculpture is realised in entrance canopy of Wohren high school in Switerland ,and NY Transportation Hub at Ground Zero, which is now in controversy.

真ちゅう製。
2組(計4枚)の金色のリーフ（葉っぱ）が上下、反転されて接合されている。

下半分が仰向けになって四肢を広げた"Mother"、上半分が逆にうつ伏せの状態で宙に投げられた"child(baby)"を表している

形4枚の板材が用いられているが、それぞれは（平面で見ると）三角形で、互いに逆向きに合わせられている


このタイポロジーの、最初の、実作への適用はWohren High School のエントランスキャノピー



2作目がご存知、NY,Ground Zero の地下鉄駅、
Transportation Hub Entrance Canopy









上記を踏まえ、Calatravaを揶揄したNYのcartoonist,Steve Duenes氏のイラスト



Transportation Hub は高騰する工事費のため、賛否両論のようだ。

Calatrava unveiled his newest work, "Meseum of Tomorrow".
Built on Rio de Janeiro, 2016's olympic host city, the building is expected to be one of a main feature of Rio's urban revitalization.

ご存知の通り、リオは2016のオリンピック開催都市であり、これを機に都市の活性化を期待している。
Porto地区、Guanabara湾のMauaふ頭に建つ本美術館も起爆剤として期待されている。


建物は2層で屋根に特徴的な庇が掛かっている。
Milwaukeeなどのような可動部材。
